Frequently Asked Questions

What training and certifications do you have?

I am a Certified Postpartum Doula, Certified & CACHE-Certified Newborn Care Specialist (NCS), and Certified Pediatric Sleep Consultant. Achieving these certifications required extensive education, hands-on experience, and ongoing professional development to ensure I provide expert-level care for families.

What did you have to do to become a Certified Postpartum Doula?

I completed my certification through the Newborn Care Training Academy (NCTA). This training covered:

✔ Postpartum recovery support for birthing parents

✔ Newborn care essentials, including diapering, feeding, and soothing techniques

✔ Lactation education & feeding support (breastfeeding, formula feeding, and bottle feeding)

✔ Maternal mental health & emotional well-being

✔ Family adjustment & bonding strategies

To become certified, I had to:

✔ Complete an intensive postpartum doula training course

✔ Pass a final exam

✔ Gain hands-on experience supporting postpartum families

✔ Maintain CPR and First Aid Certification

✔ Commit to ongoing education & training to stay updated on best practices

This certification allows me to provide comprehensive postpartum care for families, ensuring both the newborn and parents receive the support they need.

What did you have to do to become a Certified & CACHE-Certified Newborn Care Specialist (NCS)?

I earned my NCS certification through the Newborn Care Training Academy (NCTA) and received my CACHE certification through Newborn Care Solutions, an internationally recognized credential in advanced newborn care.

To achieve certification, I had to meet the following rigorous requirements:

✔ 2,000+ hands-on hours working with newborns (birth to 4 months old)

✔ Experience caring for twins or triplets

✔ Completion of lactation training

✔ Certification in CPR and First Aid

✔ Passed a professional background check

✔ Submitted professional references & client testimonials

✔ Compiled a detailed resume of newborn care experience

✔ Commitment to ongoing education—I complete yearly training to stay updated on the latest newborn care practices, safety guidelines, and best practices

This certification means I am fully equipped to support families with feeding, sleep shaping, newborn development, reflux and colic management, and more.

What did you have to do to become a Certified Pediatric Sleep Consultant?

I completed my Certified Pediatric Sleep Consultant certification through the Center for Pediatric Sleep Management (CPSM).

This program covered:

✔ The science of infant and toddler sleep

✔ Sleep training methods (gentle & structured approaches)

✔ Sleep regressions, nap transitions, and nighttime wakeups

✔ Safe sleep guidelines and how to create a sleep-friendly environment

✔ Tailoring custom sleep plans to each family’s unique needs and parenting style

This certification allows me to support families in developing healthy, independent sleep habits for their little one while offering customized, compassionate sleep solutions that fit their goals.

Why does certification matter?

Many people claim to be newborn care specialists or sleep consultants without formal training.

My certifications show that I have:

✔ Completed rigorous coursework and passed required exams

✔ Accumulated thousands of hands-on hours working with newborns and young children

✔ Met the highest safety and ethical standards, including a background check and CPR/First Aid certification

✔ Committed to ongoing education so I can provide families with the most up-to-date, research-backed guidance

What is a Postpartum Doula?

A postpartum doula provides physical, emotional, and educational support to families after bringing home a new baby. Whether it’s your first child or your fifth, the early postpartum period can be overwhelming. I offer hands-on newborn care, guidance on feeding and sleep, emotional reassurance, and practical household help so you can focus on healing, bonding, and adjusting to life with your little one.

I assist with newborn care, infant sleep support, light household tasks like baby laundry and bottle cleaning, sibling care, emotional support for parents, and referrals to trusted specialists when needed. My goal is to make your postpartum experience easier, smoother, and more restful.

Do you only support breastfeeding parents?

Absolutely not. I fully support all feeding choices—whether you’re breastfeeding, chest feeding, bottle-feeding, formula-feeding, pumping, or using a combination. My priority is helping you find what works best for you and your baby.

Need help establishing a breastfeeding routine? I’ll be your biggest cheerleader.

Choosing formula? I’ll help ensure your baby is fed, happy, and thriving.

Bottle-feeding? I’ll support you in finding the right rhythm for your family.

There’s no judgment here—only support.

Can I contact nap and still have a good sleeper?

Yes. You don’t have to choose between cuddles and independent sleep. Contact naps are a wonderful way to bond with your baby, and they can absolutely be part of your routine.

The key is balance—enjoying those snuggles while also practicing independent sleep when you can. This helps your baby feel secure while also building the skills to sleep in their crib or bassinet when needed. I’ll help you find the perfect mix for your family.

What’s the difference between a Postpartum Doula and a Baby Nurse?

A Postpartum Doula supports the entire family—not just the baby. I help with baby care, parental education, household tasks, and emotional support to ensure the transition is smooth for everyone.

A Baby Nurse (often called a "night nurse" or "newborn nanny") is primarily focused on caring for the baby, often working independently of the parents.

A doula helps parents learn & feel confident in caring for their baby.

A baby nurse often takes over care so parents can rest.

Both can be helpful, but doulas provide a more well-rounded, family-centered approach that includes education and support.

Yes. I work with Carrot Fertility and other benefit providers that offer postpartum and sleep support as part of their plans. If you’re unsure if your benefits cover doula or sleep services, I can help you check eligibility.
